Can CUPS be used instead of CUSP

Dear All

We have an SCCP based outbound (7,5) dialer and are planning to move to outbound option version 8. I have two questions if anyone can answer them it would be real helpful.

1. Can CUPS be used instead of CUSP in a multi gateway deployment.

2. Is SIP Proxy Necessary in a multi gateways deployment.

Thanks

Hassan

You can use CUPS or CUSP . better to use CUSP in multi-gateway deployment.

Check this link for CUSP http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/modules/ps2797/data_sheet_c78-521390_ps2797_Products_Data_Sheet.html

Whether for inbound or outbound traffic, Cisco Unified SIP Proxy enables routing and management across contact center time-division multiplexing (TDM) and IP trunks. Routing is provided across gateways connecting outside the network as well as across multiple Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portals. If a Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal or gateway is unavailable, Cisco Unified SIP Proxy can intelligently reroute to an alternate Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal or gateway. When the Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal or gateway returns to service, Cisco Unified SIP Proxy resumes sending traffic to the Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal or gateway. You can apply load balancing and rule-based routing, and provide interfacing to the SIP trunk signal normalization where needed.

With ICM 8 I think cisco recommends CUSP

Re: Can CUPS be used instead of CUSP

There is now an $80k licence on using CUPS as a SIP Proxy (this started about 9 months ago), so it's more cost effective by a 30% margin to use CUSP. I find this new licence most unsatisfactory, especially if you have adopted CUWL on your CUCM.

Geoff
