Creating and Reading a variable from multiple scripts

I am creating a series of scripts for our help desk and one of the things we are trying to do is to play critical outages for users when they dial in to the system prior to being put in queue. However we want to be able to turn this on or off depending if there are any outages.

I have the help desk record outages in a script and I also give them the ability to toggle a variable in this script as to whether the critical outage prompt should play or not.

The question I have is how do I read the value of that variable from my main script? What is the best way to accomplish that?

Re: Creating and Reading a variable from multiple scripts

Why not write the variable value (on/off) in an XML file?
