Error while trying to open Postinstall.exe in Windows 7

I am using Cisco Agent Desktop ver 7.6(2) and Windows 7 (32 bit ). While tyring to open Postinstall .exe from  bin folder I get the following error message :

"The procedure entry point NetApiBufferAllocate could not be located in the dynamic link library netutils.dll ".

Can some one help with solution or suggest a workaround ?

no firewall or antivirus software running on the machine?

Out of curiosity did you try running CAD as an administrator? 

Are you trying to run postinstall.exe from this path "c:\program files\cisco\desktop\bin" ?

According to the CRS comp matrix,

Supported windows 7 for CAD/CSD/CDA Client OS15:

Windows 7 (Ultimate, Enterprise, and Professional)

I was not able to resolve the issue but found a workaround to change the TFTP address through registry . Go to regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spanlink\Site Setup\LDAP Host1

and modify the IP address to repoint the CAD to the desired IP address.  Close the registry editor and just relaunch the software . I have personally checked it works !!!

This is a known defect

CSCtk14010    Unable to launch PostInstall from client systems

and the work around is to try the following

-----------

1. On the client, go to c:\program files\cisco\desktop\bin
2. Rename netutils.dll file into netutils.dll.bak

Now run postinstall and check whether the error is seen.

But I have seen this workaround not working as well  - the fix is to upgrade to code to 7.6(3)
