HA mode in IPCCX

Hi All,

We have recently installed IPCCX Enhanced version 5.0 in High Availability mode wherein we have configured two IP phone services which carries IP address for Active & standby server for agent login in Call Manager version 5.X.

Now ,if one active server goes down, agent has to login again using another service by pressing Services button on IP phone.

Is there any way to create a single phone service which maps to both IP addresses of Active & standby IPCC servers?

regds,

aman

Hi,

Cisco suggest to do Server Load Balancing for this, where one virtual server ip address maps to two real server ip address. So the IP phone services has to be created only with one ip address in URL. When the request comes to the virtual ip, it will route the call to the real servers. The distribution to the real servers can be circular, top down depending on your requirement.

The other option is to use DNS. Instead of IP addresses, you can give one hostname in the URL. On the DNS server, this hostname can be mapped to two different IP addresses. So the when the Phone request a DNS resolution for the hostname, DNS server will give two IP addresses. So the phone will try the first one, and if it is not reachable it will search for the second ip address. Drawback in the case of using DNS is, when the primary goes down, it will take some time to query the second server.

Thanks,

Manu

Hi Manu-

Can you provide a documentation reference for the server load balancing scenario? I was not aware that was sanctioned by the CCBU and in light of the Linux migration, I'm not sure how we would do that without an ACE.
