I am trying to run the License Conversion tool from the provided CD and I discovered that I have no idea where my predecessor put the license files for version 3.5. We must have had them at one point as we are running 3.5 now. Is there any way to export the licenses for 3.5 or do they actually issue licenses for all of the licensed features you currently are runnning? For now the conversion is a definite bust as all I have are 3.0 licenses.
Before anyone asks I have already used the PAK that came with the software to get the 7.0 license file. I guess I am sort of confused how this might work as we just got done doing our support renewals and moved to workstation licensing but I have no idea how that works or how I get the license file for those.
Solved! Go to Solution.
There are ways to delete the files, but not export them unfortunately.
1) Search the current server disks for anything ending in .lic (previous eng may have dumped them somewhere)
2) If you have the Cisco Sales Order numbers from the original licensing orders, TAC can reissue them
3) Speak to your Cisco AM, they can usually help get what you need issued
In this case that you are doing and upgrade from UCCX 3.5 to 7.0(1), first think that I would like to let you know is that you will need two different sets up upgrade licenses one to go from 3.5 to 4.0(5) and another one from 4.0(5) to 7.0(1). This because if you would like to retain your current configuration you need to go first to 4.0(5).
In these links you could find both upgrade procedures.
From 4.0(5) to 7.0(1)
From 3.5 to 4.0(5)
Also I would like to let you know that as soon as you upload the license files to the server, they cannot be download or copy in a physical file, this is the behavior with the new version but with 3.5 I am not sure if its the same.

I am aware there is no direct upgrade path from 3.5 to 7. I am really only interested in the license files. The rest I can do manually, but those license files are really holding me back at the moment. As far as searching for .lic files, believe me I have scoured the server in all drives and our network storage location where I can find other copies of these previous version files as well. I can see why the previous guy was released/pink slipped. All of my license files are from 2003 and 2004 though.
I guess my resolution is to get in touch with my account manager.
In case anybody asks again, the integration and dependencies of various callmanager and ipcc versions are a nightmare minefield and I really don't even want to try to traverse that. The license files are all I need and thats what I am shooting for. I have the rest figured out and if I can't migrate the script I will simply re-create it from scratch, regardless of how painful that will be. Still nothing compared to migrating the UCCM and UCCX combo through two versions. Thanks, no.
Would the TAC licensing team be the ones that you would email at email@example.com? I fired off an email to them earlier today but I guess the TAC group would have more access to my contracts than just via email.
I'd agree - as far as I'm aware it's the same team, but if you email the licensing email address you don't get an SR number, so if they don't come back to you quickly you'll end up logging a case anyway.
If you start with a TAC case it's properly logged and you can chase it easier.
