IPCC 7.0 System Install - Partitioning

All the servers were configured by the customer and they partitioned them without telling us. They put a C: and D: partition on each. How will this affect the install?

The install guide explicitly states that they should not be partitioned. What effect this will have I am not 100% sure. As the install is mostly automated I would suspect the worst that will happen is that the D: partition will not be used and will effectively be dead space.

I see no problem with disc partitioning as long as the C: partition is large enough. I hope they haven't used some old-school thinking of a 2GB C: partition.

If sizing is OK, it's always useful to have another partition to write Ghost images to. I like to make all my ICM servers that way.

"ICM Partitioning" on a Logger is a different beast, as you probably know.

It's not a matter of if it will work or not.

The product has not been tested in that manner and deploying a system into production in that manner puts you and your customers at risk.

Deploy it as detailed in the install guide and it will work.

We try to be as flexible as we can but your in a unsupported configuration if you deploy this way.

Bob

Thanks. I ended up rebuilding everything. With this being my first System install, I want to make sure it is by the book :)
