UCCX Upgrade from 4.0 to 8.0 and Licenses

When doing an upgrade from IPCC Express 4.0(5) to 8.0, do the licenses somehow get converted during the process?  I tried just installing 8.0 from scratch and uploading the agent licenses but the new system won't take them.  If I upgrade from 4.0(5) to 7.0 and then to 8.0, are the licenses somehow converted to work in 8.0 that way?

Thanks!

Jeff

Re: UCCX Upgrade from 4.0 to 8.0 and Licenses

No you will need the licenses. If you no longer have the LIC files you will need TAC to reissue them to you; there is no way to recover them from the server unless you forgot to delete them. For TAC to reissue them, you will need the Cisco Sales Order number you purchased them on.

All of the license files (including the upgrade license from your PUT order) should be put in a ZIP file and uploaded to the new CCX server.

Re: UCCX Upgrade from 4.0 to 8.0 and Licenses

Hi Jeff,

Actually you will want to open a case with the licensing team, not TAC.

1.       TAC cannot create a new license (all UCCX versions)

2.       TAC cannot export a license from UCCX once it has been uploaded (all UCCX versions)

3.       Obtaining the correct license MAC for UCCX 8 (no other versions of IPCC Express are dependent upon license MAC)

1.       Ask the customer to follow these directions

a.       After installing UCCX 8

                                                                                                                                      i.      SSH to the UCCX server with a application such as Putty

ii.      Login with the application username and password created during the installation

iii.      Type the following command  “show status” without the quotes

iv.      The output of the show status will have the current license MAC

b.      Navigate to the Cisco Unified OS Administration

                                                                                                                                      i.      Login with username and password

ii.      From the menus select Show > Network > License MAC

As Jonathan stated you will need the PO/SO when opening a new service request with the licensing team.

Regards,

Joe
