Hi,

I will be upgrading an existing V7.0(1)SR05 UCCX server to V8.5(1) HA using PUT.

The admin guide states that DNS must be enabled on the UCCX servers. I do not currently have DNS enabled on the V7 server. Is this a mandatory requirement or recommended. If I must have DNS configured could somebody please expalin why.

thanks

Ian.

As per page 10 of the installation guide DNS configuration is Manadatory

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_5/installation/guide/uccx851ig.pdf

There is a defect out there in regards to this

CSCtk05428    Need to document DNS config as mandatory for UCCX installatation

hope this helps

Anuj

Anuj,

Thanks for this.

I trust that the UCCX Servers do not need to be part of the corporate domain and could be configured in their own domain ie

UCCX_Pub@uccx.com, with A and PTR records configured on the DNS servers.

thanks

Ian.

they don't have to be in the AD, they can resolve to anything in DNS, you just need to put the a and reverse lookup record in the DNS.

David,

When configuring DNS client on the UCCX server, (in my case from cli as the server is already configured) I have to config a domain name.

Id imagine that the A and PTR records must be configured on DNS to resolve to the hostname of the uccx server in the configured domain?

Correct.
