Installing Fabric manager on Windows 64-bit

Note that Cisco Fabric Manager has not been officially tested on any 64-bit platforms, only 32-bit platforms are officially supported. However users were able to install Fabric Manager on 64-bit Windows by following these steps:

Step 1. Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) as administrator. To do this right-click on cmd.exe, and select Run As Administrator. This is important.

Step 2. Change to your Java directory (i.e., "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin"). Checked with Java version 1.6.0_18-b07.

Step 3. Run the command "Java.exe -Xmx512m -jar m9000-fm-5.0.1a.jar"  (You'll need to specify the full path to the jar file for Fabric Manager. On the CD image download, it's in the Software folder).  Your command prompt should look something like this, depending on where the Fabric Manager jar file is located:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin>Java.exe -Xmx512m -jar "C:\m9000-cd-5.0.1a\software\m9000-fm-5.0.1a.jar"

Step 4. Then just follow the steps for the install, as shown in section above.

** Note that as of NX-OS 5.2, Cisco Fabric Manager and FMS will be known as Cisco Data Center Network Manager for SAN, and is supported on both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows.
