UCS 2.0(1) iSCSI Boot [updated]
iSCSI boot enables a server to boot its operating system from an iSCSI target machine located remotely over a network. This document provides details and tips on how to configure iSCSI boot. This document only covers the install part and not the post-install tasks (mpio, off-load). A service profile for iSCSI boot has some changes from a normal Service Profile. There is now an iSCSI vnic that needs to be created. Creating a Service Profile iSCSI boot must be done from the Expert Service Profile creation tool.
Following adapters support iSCSI boot:
Cisco VIC and VIC-1280 (iBFT only, no iSCSI offloads)
Broadcom 57711 M51KR (full offload, iSCSI HBA)
Following Operating System are supported for iSCSI boot:
Windows 2008 R2 and R2SP1
RHEL 5.6, 6.0 and 6.1
The user should have knowledge of basic UCS configuration and Service profile configuration.
