IBM SAN Switch and Cisco N2K Connectivity Problem

Dear All,

We are experiencing an issue with our IBM SAN switches connected to Cisco N2K (2248TP) switches. The N2K are connected to CIsco N5K (5020 model). We have two IBM SAN switches, both connected to N2K switch-2 connected to N5K-2 as depicted in the drawing attached. This worked well, until recently we had to attach two new N2K (2248TP-E) to the N5K. This required an upgrade of NX-OS on N5K. After the upgrade, everything was stable but the IBM switch management ports and one storage host (not shown in the drawing) started showing reachability problems.

The port to which these were connected was UP | UP but we could not see any mac address learned on those ports. As a part of troubleshooting we shifted the management ports of the two IBM san switches and the IBM storage host to N2K-1 connected to N5K-1 and it started working.

Can somebody help in understanding what went wrong with the N5K-2 which resulted in only the IBM switch mgmt. IPs being unreachable?

There was no configuration change was made. The new NX-OS to which the N5Ks were upgraded to is 5.2(1)N1(1). The old NX-OS was

5.0(3)N1(1b).

Any help is much appreciated.
