Embedded flash video stopped working

Hi all

I implemented Show and Share about 6 months ago and have had no issues, videos played fine through the Show and Share portal and embedded into our intranet page.

Our support team rolled out a new version of flash to all our client machines a few weeks back and since then flash video that has been embedded into our intranet page no longer plays, however the same video plays fine through the show and share portal on the same client PC. (WMV video plays fine through both playing methods).

The flash version was upgraded from flash 10.0.22 to 10.2.152.26 on our client machines, i've also tested playing the same embedded videos through flash 11 and we get the same problem.

The embedded video uses the script:

  <script type="text/javascript"

  src="https://servername/vportal/scripts/videoplayer/DmsEmbedLib.js"></script><script>document.write

  (dmsEmbed.getSimplePlayer("C-7cae9560-31cd-4da9-ab46-

d79cea5f5a57:2","https://servername/vportal/VideoPlayer.jsp?ccsid=C-7cae9560-31cd-4da9-ab46-

d79cea5f5a57:2","false",480));</script>

Which calls the video from:

https://servername/vportal/VideoPlayer.jsp?ccsid=C-7cae9560-31cd-4da9-ab46-d79cea5f5a57:2

Can only see that it must be the way the embedding is handled by the new flash versions. I think it is the dmsEmbed.getSimplePlayer somehow as presumably the main show and share page uses the full player?

Has anyone else had this problem? the documentation says show and share suports flash 9 and above so I dont know why this caused a issue.

Many thanks in advance

Adam

Embedded flash video stopped working

Hi all

For those of your that may of experienced the same issue Cisco have a known bug for it which is fixed in version 5.3.

I will upgrade our version from 5.2.2 to 5.3 and let you know how it goes.

CSCth09724 - Video embed code doesn't work till auto-play is set to true for video

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCth09724

As per the TAC engineers notes “Disregard the found-in/fixed-in notes. The bug was in 5.2.1 and I have confirmed that it is fixed in 5.2.3”

The hardware support notice for 5.2.3 is located below, so it’s worth checking the hardware version to ensure it’s compatible. If the server is not in the hardware list below, this means it will support 5.2.3.
