HTML Presentation/Video stream on DMP 4400G

Hello,

I have a couple of questions regarding the Cisco Digital Media Player 4400G.

There's a presentation based on html that I want to show on the DMP. The html document retrieves images and text from a news website, and then a JS script places all information in correct position. So far the DMP shows the text and images unformatted. Does the DMP web browser support JavaScript? What kind of web engine uses? I understand that it runs a Mozilla engine, is it Gecko? What version?

The other topic I want to discuss is: how I can stream video to the DMP? What format does the stream have to be? Do I need a DMM server to play streams on the DMP? I do have a DMM server but I want to know how is it possible to play the stream using only the DMP web interface.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Manuel.

HTML Presentation/Video stream on DMP 4400G

hello Manuel,

As you havent mentioned the current version of your dmps, i am providing you with the dmp user guide that includes several info regardgin the dmps functionality:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/dmp/user/guide/5_x/5_4_x/welcome.html

also, in our setup, we are using an iis server to host the .mpg video files and ofcourse stream them to the dmps.

Also, we are using multicast for some live channels. So, its http and udp streming in our case. You can simply launch the dmp web interface and use the play functionality to test your streaming sources. You dont need a dmm to perform this task.

HTML Presentation/Video stream on DMP 4400G

Hi panayiotiscy,

You're right, I didn't mention that the DMP firmware version is 5.4.0. However I've read the DMP user guides, but information about streaming is not quite clear. Also, what if I want to stream a dynamic video, say, the screen cast of a computer? Would a Cisco Media Enconder help out on these cases?

Hello manuel,
Well i think you are pushing it a bit more than u sjould!
I have tried rhis once using vlc/stream/directx desktop but i can only remember that it was not stable and i has to tweak it a lot....!good luck with it

On the other hand, if you are interested in streaming some kind of webservices, you just type the relative http address to the dmp and click play...
