Screen Rotation Angle usage + video problems

Hi netpos,

Recently i've bumped into the following problem regarding the video appearance on a portrait oriented Lcd.

So, i ve configured the DMP to rotate the screen at 90degrees in order to adjust to the actual orientation of the LCD.

The presentations that have images,swf are presented really good. But, if the presentation includes a video file then, the video file is not rotated with the rest of the presentation but is presented in a landscape orientation ( as it would appear of the LCD was mounted at landscape orientation).

The current workaround for this, is to edit(using video editing) the video file and rotating it at 90degrees. Then everything looks ok.

But, by doing this the overall appearance of the video is reduced and also, time is lost as well!

Has anyone encountered this before?

Hello,

What you describe is working as designed.  The DMP will NOT alter the video.

If the video is film in "landscape" or "wide" screen mode, the video will be played

in the original mode even if the display is rotated to portrait mode.

The video has to be recorded with portrait mode\vertical mode in mind.  If it is not,

the video will need to be edited via a 3rd party application to fit the dimensions of

you vertical video object.

You're basically not going to get around this. No digital signage system can rotate video aspect resolution. It is as Tom says...In order to take a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio video file, rotate it, have it appear in different resolutions, or aspects ratios you will need a video compositing program like Adobe After Affects.
