C170 - allow sender by x-flag or mailer type

Hi,

We have a industry specific application that sends mail from the end-user in SMTP / MIME format.

Recipients are typically internal to our organization but are sometimes external. We restrict incoming and relaying traffic on our mail server.

The application vendor has put in strings to identify his product as the mailer, as well as some X-flags so we can identify this traffic.

Is there any way we can have the C170s accept this traffic based on the mailer or x-flags whilst rejecting other SMTP from the internal end-user workstations ?

I have looked in the web admin, but could only find it based on IP addresses.

Cheers

Ian

Where is this mail coming

Where is this mail coming from? inside your network or outside?

You'll have to let the box(es) the app is on relay and then use message filters or content filters to deal with mail from them.  If they aren't allowed to relay, the conversation never gets far enough along to be able to see the headers.
