We use Veeam Backup and Replication for backup and for Surebackup (and for anti malware scanning of backupfiles) in a vmware vcenter environment.
Veeam B&R can be configured through a AntivirusInfos.xml file to use products like
- Symantec Protection Engine
- ESET
- Windows Defender
- Kaspersky Security
- Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools
- Trellix (formerly McAfee) — Experimental support starting from Veeam Backup & Replication 12.1 (build 12.1.0.2131)
to scan backup files for malware but not Cisco Endpoint Security.
Considering the placement of Veeam B&R in Gartners Magic Quadrant I find it puzzeling why Cisco and Veeam haven't gotten together long ago and make that work.
As one Veeam Techincal Supporter recently wrote me: ". All that's needed is to have an offline, command prompt based scanner that we can pass a path as a parameter."
I am in no way affiliated with Veeam but I would very much like Cisco to step up and get this done. We use Windows Defender for scanning but that one times out after about 24 hours.
