2 x Cisco 5520 ASA in Active/Standby mode failover question

Hi, I have ordered 2 identical Cisco ASA 5520's firewalls. I will want to get these to work in active/standby (stateful) mode, but I was just wondering how would they connect to each other? Do I use one of the GB ports or the serial?

Thanks

Hi,

From http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa72/configuration/guide/failover.html#wp1092445

In the paragraph: Configuring Cable-Based Active/Standby Failover (PIX Security Appliance Only) you can read "Cable-based failover is only available on the PIX 500 series security appliance".

I hope this helps.

Best regards.

Massimiliano.

You use one of your Ethernet ports. The ASA doesn't have a serial failover port option. That is only on the PIX appliance.
