ASA 5505 base and security plus

The asa 5505 base does not allow failover but the security plus does. However does the security plus mean upgading code to support the acive/standby failover? Also since stateful failover is not supported in the 5505 base how much time can I expect to see during a failover to the standby?

Scott,

It's a standby failover you can activate by buying the security plus.

Failover will occur in several seconds.

This link may give you a better insight:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a0080834058.shtml#unsupport

But beware:

Up to now, A/A failover is not supported for VPN. Anyway, most customers think that A/A means load-balancing, and this is untrue!

Regards

Thank you this was helpful. I guess that with the security plus license failover can work.
