ASA 5512-X Finding High Bandwidth Users

Hi,

I am planning to implement firewall monitoring to find high bandwidth users. We have Cisco ASA 5512-X and Windows 2008 server. What I want to achieve here is, ASA to send reports to an external monitorign tool/software with the AD username and also amount and type of data that they are using. I thought about using NetFlow tool, but I am not sure, if it has the facility that I am looking for.

Any solutions and recommendations are much appreciated.

Hi,

Netflow is the right choice to monitor traffic rates and build baselines.

Netflow will give you the source and destination IP, ports and amount of data.  As for the type of data, you would need to decipher that from the ports being used.
