ASA 5520 v7.21 Assertion Failed (Block.c)

Hello,

I am facing a quite interesting situation. I just upgraded my ASA 5520 from 7.0(5) to 7.2(1) with the same config file. The problem is that all of a sudden the ASA reboots and I receive this error message:

message #65 : assertion "0" failed: file "block.c", line 874

Memory usage goes to 100%, CPU keeps low (up to 5%). Any ideas on this?

Thank you.

This looks like a software bug to me. I have seen some similar issues with 7.2(1). Is it possible for you to upgrade to 7.2(3) and let me know if you still see the issue.

Regards,

Arul

Arul, thanks for your response. Interestingly I downgraded to version 7.0(5) and it is running normally. I have this same software version on another ASA and it is running normally. Anyhow I will try to upgrade to 7.2(3) as you recommended. I will let you know the results.

Arul,

Sorry for taking so long to post here. I upgraded to version 8 and it now works perfectly fine.

Thanks once more.
