Hello,
Sorry for posting this issue here as the GNS3 guys seem dead and they do not reply for weeks.
I got an ASA running software 8.4(2). Now, i want to downgrade it to software 8.2(1).
Here are the steps i've done so far:
1. Uploaded the 8.2 image to the appliance via tftp.
2. Tried to issue this command: boot system flash:asa821-k8.bin but got this error "Unable to set this url, unsupported file system."
3. Tried the downgrade facility in ASDM but got this message "The software will be updated and the appliance will reload. ASDM will now exit." and the appliance didn't get reload as the message stated.
4. Reload it manually but nothing changed, the same OS 8.4 still running.
Appreciate any help

Hello Turbo,
I have not seen such a scenario before (performing a downgrade),
As far as I know you will only be able to run 8.02 or 8.4(2),

hi,
julio is right. you can't TFTP/downgrade and can only run 8.0 and 8.4 in GNS3.
you're in luck, i just setup my PC/GNS3 with a downgraded 8.0 IOS.
please check out my blog for the step-by-step process.

Thank you guys, that was helpful.
I got my PIX (instead of ASA) running using software 8.0(2). In the beginning, that software worked with some weirdo issues such as simple ping issues from inside host to PIX's interface. After 2 hours, i decided to try another image which is the 8.2 but i didn't know that it is not supported in GNS3. When i run the GNS3 as an administrator, these issues are gone, even though i still do not understand what is the relation between the windows administrator account and the PIX's software.
Anyways, my case is solved.
Thx
