ASA failover switchover to standby

Hi all,

I configured the ASA failover for one of our customer. The actual problem is that if one interface of the active ASA fails it doesn't switch over to the standby unit. We have to shutdown the primary unit to bring the standby to the active state.

What could be the issue?

Is it due to ASA image bug and needs upgrade?

Hi Arumugasamy,

This depends on two things, whether the interface is monitored or not and your interface policy. You can check the output of:

show run monitor

and check if it is a monitored interface or not.

Also check, show failover output, this would tell you your interface policy, for more details refer to the command reference:
