ASA License question

Hello Community,

Quick question regarding a license in the ASA (specifically AnyConnect Essentials).

This customer has two 5550s (not in failover), operating in separate portions of his network. He bought one AnyConnect Essentials license for one unit and install it. Now, he wants to "move" or migrate this license to the other unit because he no longer need it on the first one (only on the other one).

The question is... is it possible to upload the license to the second ASA, removing it from the first ASA since it's no longer needed? Obviosuly he's trying to avoid purchasing a new license since he already paid for one that's installed on an ASA not needing it.

Thank you guys!

Federico.

Hello Federico,

I would say there is no way you can accomplish this but you could at least go to licensing and see what they tell you (see if there is any possibility but  almost 100 % sure you will need to buy a different one (each SN has it's own license)

You were right. Nothing to do here, just talk to licensing@cisco.com

Thank you!

Federico.
