ASA licensing to add IDS module

Dear cisco experts, we've got a pair of asa5540 in active/standby mode and we would like to install IDS modules on them. however there are some licensing issues: should we buy additional license for ASAs to support IDS modules (we have VPN Premium license now) or purchasing the module and annual contract for it would be enough ??

When you purchase the module you should

a. update the ASA Smartnet coverage to reflect it is now a model with IPS module installed

b. add the IPS subscription license

Those two actions will give you full hardware and software coverage including IPS signature update subscription.
