ASA no shutdown problem

I have had the following problem before but I cant remember what I did. Could anyone help.

My vlan1 inside interface is set to administratively down. and when I ping its says inside interface is shutdown.

I have tried issueing the no shutdown command but it does nothing, and the interface is still set to shutdown.

I seem to remember it being this version of the asa software where you have to issue a command other than no shutdown. (7.2(4))

Many thanks,

Daniel.

Sounds like your using sub interfaces.

Make sure your physical interface is not shutdown. If it is down your sub interfaces won't work until the physical is up. Issue no shut under real interface.
