We have two ASA5520 firewalls running 8.0(4).
512MB DRAM
256MB Flash
CPU Pentium 4, Celeron 2000 MHz
Purchased 2008
We need to upgrade the memory to 2GB DRAM to support 8.3 but I keep seeing hardware restrictions related to physical memory slots on the motherboard that prevents this physical memory upgrade. I keep reading that folks have ordered the 2GB DRAM (2 sticks of 1GB each) and discover the ASA5520 firewall motherboard has only a single slot for memory.
Anyone experience this issue? How can I determine the number of physical memory slots before I open the cover or better yet before we order the memory?
Thank you
Frank

You would need to open the ASA cover to check whether it comes with a single slot or multiple slots to determine that.
If you find only a single slot, pls open a TAC case. Otherwise, I guess you can proceed to purchase the 2GIG memory upgrade.
