ASA5540 + AIP-SSM 20

Hello,

I have a situation that I was wondering if anyone can provide some information. I currently run two ASA5540's with the AIP-SSM 20 modules in failover (active/standbye). My license has expired on the ips modules and I need to update them. However, I know when I update the license on the firewall's the failover breaks because the firewalls do not have the same build any longer. Does anyone know, or has anyone run into updating the ips module license? Will it break the failover?

The IPS modules don't share state and don't operate in failover mode. They are seperate entities unlike the failover capabilities of the ASA which are linked...

You should be ok with this.
