Ask the Expert: Cisco ASA 5505 Series

I was using a leased line for VPN tunnel and local internet. Now I have an ADSL with PPPoE(without static IP), which I want to use for only local internet.

1)     Can I confugure the ADSL with PPPoE(without Static IP) on ASA 5505.

2)     Can I setup like leased line only for VPN Tunnel and ADSL for local internet.

Please check and let me know if this can be done.

Thanks

Gineesh

Hello Gineesh,

1)yes

2) yes

The ASA works fine with PPPoE, just make sure you have all of the information from the ISP to configure it.

Once you have it start configuring it.

Here is a link that will help

Hi Jcarvaja,

I want to clarify once again that I dont have an IP address from ISP for the PPPoE connection. I just got the username and password. I hope this is enough for me to start configuring it.

Gineesh
