Chassis Number ?

Hi,

Is there anyway of finding out the serial number for the chassis of a Pix firewall apart from a physical check ?

I understand that the serial number in the output of the sh ver is for the flash bios serial number not the chassis.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Stu

Re: Chassis Number ?

Depends on the platform, You could try 'show inventory'.

Re: Chassis Number ?

Hello,

Try to issue the command show tech. Capture all the output and then Click CTRL+F and search for the chassis.

You should find it there,

Appreciate your rating if this helps,

Regards,

Re: Chassis Number ?

Sorry, that's for a router. AFAIK there is no command in a PIX the get the chassis serial number. No where in a show tech did I find the serial number, so I don't hink that will work either.

Re: Chassis Number ?

You're right, I tried to to get the show tech of a running PIX and the Chassis number is not included.

Re: Chassis Number ?

Hi,

you can see it with "show version" one of the lower lines, but older systems like PIX520 with upraded flashcard the shown serial number differs from that on the chassis. It is stored in the flash.

Re: Chassis Number ?

That's not the serial number.
