I have an ASA 5510 running 8.4(3) image. ASA has two lan interface name nameif lan0 and nameif lan1. DHCP server reside behind lan0 interface. we have created DHCP scope for lan1 segment pool. Both interface has L2 switch behind ASA means DHCP server is connected to l2 switch which is ASA lan0 port. ASA is acting as gateway for both.
I am confused here that if i enable dhcp relay on lan1 interface then will machines behind lan1 will able to get IPs from DHCP server which is on another ASA interface.
I guess the configuration would be the following in your case
dhcprelay server lan0
dhcprelay enable lan1
This would enable the relay of DHCP messages from interface "lan1". The configuration would also specify that a DHCP server can be found behind interface "lan0" with the IP address specified in the configuration.
