ERROR: Bad mask 255.255.255.0 for address 10.96.1.0

Hi, I have a ASA 5505 when i want to assign an ip address to for example vlan 2 like 10.96.1.0 255.255.255.0 it gives me the above error.

please help

Hello,

10.96.1.0 is the network address if you are using 255.255.255.0 as the network mask, so you can't use that address for your device. The first available address in 10.96.1.0/24 is 10.96.1.1. You can use that one.
