Hi everyone I have a quick question I have a pix 515E with an inside and outsdie interface already I'm trying to add another inside interface. I've added the ip address to ethernet2 intf2 of 192.168.50.50 and the other end is a 2821 and its ethernet interface is 192.168.50.51. When I'm on the pix I can ping 192.168.50.50 but when I try to ping across the ethernet connection I cannot ping .51. I know you cannot say much since you don't have the config will get that soon but off the top of your heads till then am I missing something?

I believe it should be the first port looking at the card from left to right.

Enable the following:

Debug icmp trace

After doing this ping the 2821 again and see if the device is responding to the ICMP packets sent from the firewall.

Also make sure that the interface us UP by doing a "show interface e2"

oh my goodness its always the simple stuff

I seem to over look. e2 is showing up down

feel like a knuckle head right now. Thank for that!!!!

Sorry one more question on a 515E I have 6 available ports I'm using 2 and the 3rd one, eth2 is coming from a card located on the top left hand corner. If I read the card and look at the PIX from behind and from right to left is eth2 the first slot or is it the last slot, the left most one?

I believe it should be the first port looking at the card from left to right.
