Firewalling capabilities of an 851-K9

Hi,

I have a question  about the 851 router - what are it's firewall capabilities?

I want to be able to use an app on a PC behind the rotuer to send out a SMTP message

to a mail server on the web but on port 80 and not 25.  Can the router be configured to

allow outgoing messaging and reject all other incomming traffic on port 80?

Cheers'

Dave

Re: Firewalling capabilities of an 851-K9

Hi,

Depending on the feature set of the IOS you can configure ZBF (Zone Base Firewall) on the router or CBAC to allow the responses from the traffic initiated on the inside LAN.

With ACLs you deny all other traffic.

Definitely you can use the router as an IOS Firewall with the correct feature set.

Federico.
