FTP errors through ASA

Hi all,

We have a server behind ASA/inside network with PVT ip. Nat to internet via ASA public/outside. When initiate FTP to a outside vendor site using windows command line ftp..

1. The login successful

2. ftp> ls

200 PORT command successful.

550 Cannot connect to 20.20.20.20:30997 - Error 0.

20.20.20.20 --> outside IP of the ASA

The port changes for every attempt..(random port like 31000, 31007): but message is same.

The server able to FTP to another vendor with no issues via the ASA.

on ASA:FTP commands are enabled.

ftp mode passive

inspect ftp

Any Suggestions..?

Mate,

If you can FTP to another host with no problems then you will need to check with the people who manage the first host and see if they have any problems on their side ...

Anyway, your description of the problem is not very clear and in order for people to respond you will need to provide more clear details.

Are you FTP'ing from your Windows host behind the ASA to an external host with IP 20.20.20.20? Why are you getting an FTP error from your outside interface IP address?!
