FWSM and 6500 Loopback interface (Management)

Hi,

I made the following test:

One machine using VLAN2 with the ip address 1.1.1.1. The FWSM inside interface is using 1.1.1.2. The VLAN2

is associated with the Firewall Module.

If I create a loopback for management in the 6500 switch, for example 1.1.1.3 I thought I will have access and not pass throught the Firewall cause is just a L2 exchange packets, not L3. But it isn?t happened .. Any idea or tip why it isn?t working.

Thanks in Advanced

Hi Andre

I'm a little confused about your setup. If you have a vlan2 with 1.1.1.1 and the FWSM is using 1.1.1.2 then how did you create a loopback on the 6500 switch with an address of 1.1.1.3. Surely when you tried to create the loopback and bring it up the switch complained about an overlapping address range ?

Am i misunderstanding something ?

Jon
