FWSM Config

Hi!!!

I have 6 4500 switches as area/distribution switches that are connected with core (6500) with IP (L3 mode). OSPF is running across the network.

FWSM module is installed into 6500 switches where Server VLAN is also created.

I want all traffic to server farm & internet should go via fwsm module.

can this be done!!!!

Note: Links b/w Core & Area/Distribution are having /30 ip addresses.

Re: FWSM Config

short answer Yes.

Long answer. Yes, but you will need down time.

You need to Switch the IP L3 links which are terminnating in the 6500 to use the FSWM instead of the Sup L3 router.

If you have the ports on the 6500 configured as L3 ports you will need to change then to L2 Vlans. Then attache the FSWM to the vlans then you can bring up the corresponding L3 Vlan interface on the FWSM.

If you run the FSWM in single context then you can still use OSPF.

Hope this helps.

regards
