FWSM Failover or HSRP

What's the best way to do something like HSRP (I need my users to point to a redundant virtual address like in HSRP) with two 6500s with the FWSM.

I will have about 20 VLANs. I want the FWSM to be active/passive. Should I put the virtual IPs on the FWSM (or can I even do that) or should I just use standard HSRP>?

If I used HSRP then I think I would run into an issue with how many SVIs I have since I want them all to be behind the firewall.

Thoughts?

Yhe FWSM failover doesn't have ip like in HSRP. For the FWSMs the active is using the active ip address and thestandby the standby. In case of failover they will change roles and send gratuitous arp.

So you should use the active ip of the FWSM as the gateway in that case.

I hope it helps.
