Hi everyone,
Did anybody try to configure IOS firewall to strip POP3 or SMTP email attachments? Is it possible at all? If not, are there any other services on the router to strip email attachements?
Thanks.
Remy

Hi Remy,
IOS Firewall can't strip email attachments. I am not aware any router features that can strip email attachments.
For what IOS Firewall can inspect SMTP, please take a look at:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/sec_data_plane/configuration/guide/sec_app_insp_ctrl_smtp.html

Hi Alex,
I thought so. For that I would need some more sophisticated content filtering like ASA5510. Good document though.
Thanks very much Alex.
