ipsec client and windows 8

Has anyone been able to get the cisco ipsec client working on windows 8? I did a google search and found this article:

http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Getting-Cisco-IPSEC-VPN-client-126204.S.203359832?qid=2ddc49e8-0344-442f-8172-97fb3954d112&goback=.gna_126204

The client followed the instructions and was able to get an ip address in the vpn pool and get connected to the vpn, but still unable to hit any of his servers. I verified that I was able to connect to the ipsec client and hit his servers on a windows 7 machine. We are using client version 5.0.07.0440. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

The Cisco VPN Client doesn't officially support Windows 8 and is EOS/EOL announced. You could run into any problems with that. There are a couple of options you have:

1) Go the official way and migrate your VPN to AnyConnect.

2) Use an alternative client like the one from Shrew: https://www.shrew.net/software

Thanks for the quick response. I had a feeling this would be the case. They are already using the ssl client, but have more than 2 users connecting at a time and they didn't want to purchase the essntials license. I have tried that shrew vpn client from my pc (Win 7) and can get connected but can't seem to hit anything. I will have the customer try it either way. Thanks!
