Line protocol down on port connected to firewall.

Dear All,

I am trying to connect my switch 4510 to my ASA5510. But line protocol on my switch showing down.

Sub interfaces are configured on my ASA and the switch port conneting to firewall is configured as trunk.

L2 Vlan also created in the switch

Asa version is 8.0(2) and the switch IOS version is 12.2(25)

Cofniguration is as follows.

ASA

e 0/1.35

vlan 35

name is guest

security-level 50

ip add 10.100.35.1 255.255.2555.0

Switch

int gi 4/2

switchport trun encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk.

Hi,

Sounds that the problem is with the actual physical connection

Make sure that

  • The interfaces on both ASA and Switch are set with "no shutdown"
  • The cable is actually connected between the correct ports
  • The cable is properly connected
  • If the devices are in different locations make sure that the connection between them is correctly connected
