Migration PIX 515 8.0(3) to ASA 5525-X

Hello Guys,

I have a PIX 515 with version 8.0(3).

We buy a ASA 5525-X for replace the PIX.

The question is, what is the better method to migrade the configurations? Manually?

What is the better version for 5525-X? 8.6.1?

Tks a lot.

Rafael Mendes

The new X series ASA can only run on version 8.6.1 and above. The previous version of ASA is not supported on the X series.

Also be advised that the NAT has changed significantly from version 8.3 onwards, including the 8.6.1, hence you would need to migrate the configuration manually unfortunately.

With the non X series ASA, you can upgrade from pre 8.3 to 8.3 or above, and the migration will also convert the configuration to the 8.3 and above configuration. However, since the X series does not support earlier version, you would need to manually configure it unfortunately.

Correct, that is actually the first version for the X series as the X series has just been released.

Version 8.6.1 has just been released in March 2012.

Ok Jennifer, thanks for your response.

More one question, the lastest version of X series is 8.6.1? I don't see other versions on cisco site.
