Multicast thru FWSM in multiple context, routed mode?

Hello

Are there any drawbacks in using the C6500 Firewall Service Module in multiple contexts, routed mode, when it comes to it?s ability to forward multicast-traffic between the contexts?

Multicast = as in Symantec Ghost where the Ghost-server resides on one side of on/two contexts and the Ghosts clients on the other side.

And, if there are limitations (which I have heard rumors about but have been unable to confirm yet), will there be any enhancements in the 7.3 release?

Best Regards

Jimmy Larsson

FWSM in single context mode supports to multicast functionality. Where as FWSM is running in multiple context mode, is not support for multicast functionality .

there is the way to pass Multicast through the FWSM is, if it is in Transparent Mode.

Hi Jimmy

I don't know how it looks in multiple contexts, but if you have only one context like we have, then it's not really usuable.

The C6500 will have 100% CPU load while ghosting and it takes around 30 minutes to 1 hour to deploy a client (if the client is not behind a firewalled Vlan).

I found after long searching this bug here: CSCei56437

You should also consider this.
