Hello Guys I disabled the http server on our ASA 5512-x firewall and took a running-config off it, however there is no entry of 'no http server enable' command in the running-config? any suggestions?

Hi,

The ASA Command Reference seems to suggest that the "http server enable" default setting is disabled, meaning the "no" form.

Usually in ASAs atleast some settings at their default value aren't shown in the running configuration at all. Sometimes you can view them with "show run all". Notice that the command supports additional parameters like "show run all http". Though in this case it doesnt seem to show the line you mention even with this command.

Tested this with my ASA5505 running 8.4(5) and it doesnt show this setting either when I disable the http server.

Hi Lion,

No need to worry about that.... since that is the default behaviour of ASA. no http server enable gets hide when you have it disabled. when you enable it it will show in running-config.

By default it is disabled in 8.4 version of ASA... it will not show up in running-config since that is the default.

It is something like shutdown / no shutdown, where shutdown shows in running config and no shutdown will not show

Regards

Karthik
