No Vlan on ASA

I have a new ASA5510,,that cannot and will not allow interface Vlan additions or configuration...when i type Conf t and then interface ? no vlan keyword shows up..I have updated IOS etc...the only thing I can think of is that they sent me a Failover ASA...does that sound familiar to anyone

What does the output of 'show ver' display? It should contain an entry for maximum VLAN's.

Re: No Vlan on ASA

Hi Dane,

You can configure VLAN interfaces on ASA5510 and greater using subinterfaces. Here is an example:

ASA(config)# interface GigabitEthernet0/1

ASA(config-if)# nameif

ASA(config-if)# security-level

ASA(config-if)# no ip address

ASA(config)# interface GigabitEthernet0/1.2

ASA(config-if)# vlan 2

ASA(config-if)# nameif

ASA(config-if)# security-level

ASA(config-if)# ip address

Hope that helps.
