we are having a PIX Firewall with the specifications as mentioned below .I want to know if the RAM for this hardware model can be upgraded (i.e can additional RAM be appended in the same hardware box) or not ?
For UR ( Unrestricted lisence) if you have 64 it is very likely your PIX have two 32MB chips If you want to upgrade its memory for perhaps software upgrades purposes etc.. the maximun you can have is 128 RAM, 64X2 memory sticks. To ensure
you may need to open the box and verify what you have.
Apologies for digging up an old thread. The maximum memory I've been able to upgrade my PIX515E to (so far) is 256 MB. I believe to be able to do this you require an unrestricted licence on the device. I have also installed a Celeron SL5MQ (900/128/100/1.75) to replace the existing CPU which now runs quite stably at 895MHz. I also upgraded the fan to supply a bit more air to the CPU and circuitry inside. The PIX506E which shares a similar mainboard is quite upgradeable too. Matt.
