Pix 515E unable to ping directly connected interface

Hi how are you all doing? I have a quick question here. I've added another inside interface to my Pix eth2 with an ip address of 192.168.50.49 and the distant end is a 2821 g0/0 with ip 192.168.50.50. now from the pix I can ping eth2 but when I try to ping the .50 I cannot ping it. I ran a debug but all that did was confirm that I cannot ping .50. I can ping the .49 address and I can see that the route is in the routing table when I do a show route I see "intf2 192.168.50.48 255.255.255.252 192.168.50.49 1 CONNECT static" I also swapped out the cables 3 times already using cross cables. Am I missing something?
