I have two PIXs 525 (primary, secondary) at work, I have been asked to find Performence and monitor bandwidth report utilization on them, how can I acheive that ?

Can I use Pix Device Manager ?

Hi.

You can download a free 30 day version of a software called "Firewall Analyzer". You have to install the software on a PC and configure it just like any syslog server. It will send the logs to the software and you can get all kinds of reports.

How about MRTG ?

You have a router, you want to know what it does all day long? Then MRTG is for you. It will monitor SNMP network devices and draw pretty pictures showing how much traffic has passed through each interface.

PS works also on PIX !

Re: PIX 525 how to monitor it ?

Just for my curious, I cound not find an option within Firewall analyzer to monitor the IDS (we have got only one 4125) that I have got within the same network as the PIX. Are you aware of any other software to monitor IDS, beside Firewall Analyzer ?

Cheers

Re: PIX 525 how to monitor it ?

Yes you can, but PDm only provides basic views such s CPU, Memory .. etc .. but it does not give you historical data apart from logs. Alternatively you can use command line to generate your own report as per the below link

Hi,

have a look at NMIS "www.sins.com.au/nmis/". It is some work to set it up but works well for monitoring PIX/ASA

Cheers.
