PIX515E upgrade using monitor mode

I've upgraded from 7.0.(4)4 to 8.0.4(4) with intermediary upgrade of 7.2.4 however both upgrades were done in monitor mode before a reload. If 8.0.4(4) is running fine in RAM will it be OK to copy this image to flash, set boot system file and save config without having done so in the intermediary image upgrade?

If you do not worry about preserving the config, then sure you can do that.

Those step by step upgrade procedure is only for preserving the config.

That is what I thought and am glad to confirm. I think I read where a utility can be obtained from Cisco if I need to erase and start over due to corruption if that were to occur. I have the config backed up. Thanks.
