Hi, Everyone,

I recently bought one Pix 535 from ebay, it comes with software version 7.22 and I upgraded it to 8.0.4, during booting, this message always comes up: "Failed to enable checksum capability", like the following:

//output copy

Failed to enable checksum capability

I did copy startup-config from my existing Pix515E (8.0.4) to this PIX535, I did NOT pay attention if I had the same "failed to enable checksum capability" before image upgrade or startup-config change so I have no idea what this message means ( google doesn't help here), can someone please enlighten me what this message means and how I can get over with it? any suggestions and advices are greatly appreciated

Hi,

Please interrupt boot process using esc or break and see if your device enters monitor mode. Now check if "fsck disk0:" is available in monitor mode. If yes then run it and check file system on flash.

Boot firewall again to see if this fix this issue or not.

Thank you Anna,

This PIX doesn't come with fsck, the following is what I did:

//output copy

monitor> fsck disk0:

Invalid or incorrect command.  Use 'help' for help.

monitor> fsck

Thank you Anubhav,

I did install OS serveral times , the same "failed to enable checksum capability" still comes out. Even during RAM boot this message  comes out too. It does appear this error hurts nothing though. Becuase I bought from Ebay for $1200 , I need to be sure this PIX is OK before I put it into production.
