PIX535 Parent flow is closed.

I am wondering if someone can tell me exactly what this means. When I do a sho conn, I see "Parent flow is closed" for this TCP connection. Does it mean my firewall dropped the connection?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Joseph,

You'll see this state when a connection is closed because its corresponding parent connection has closed.

As an example, you might see this connection state on a FTP data channel (child flow) after the FTP control channel (parent flow) has been closed. In this example, the data channel is considered the child flow because it was opened at the request of the control channel.

Hope that helps.
